Never Act Like U Know All
Hey gang. Im new to this part of this BBS. This is my first post on this section, as Im usually in the Keyboard and Cubase sections.
This is my question. I need a pretty good preamp around a decent price. It doesnt have to be cheap, but we want the best for the price. Ive overheard people talking about JoeMeek products. I would like a my preamp seperate from the compressor and eq.
I was thinking about the JoeMeek SC2.2 Stereo Compressor, and the VC6Q British Channel. What I think that Im seeing in the VC6's description is that besides a preamp, its also a compressor and 1 band of eq. Am I right in this conclusion? If I am, then, what would another comprable preamp of quality and price (that is just a preamp byitsself)? What would yall consider a decent equalizer? I have heard of harmony units for vocals and automatic pitch correction. how do you feel about these harmonizing units and auto pitch correction units? I understand that there are some units that do harmonizing and auto-pitch correction all in one unit. Who makes the units and are they decent (work well)????
Sorry for making this so long but, one last question....when I purchase this stuff this week, do I hook them up as follows:
microphone to the preamp, output of the preamp to the compressor, compressor to harmony/auto pitch correction unit, harm/auto p.c. unit to the equalizer, equalizer to the mixing board.
One last thing, what is the best way to mic an acoustic guitar, and whats a good mic for doing that.....and whats a good mic for doing vocals? I had a $800.00 stereo mic given to me by a friend of the family that does a/v stuff for convention centers. I havent used it yet, but it sounds damn clear. Do you think this mic would do ok? like I said, it is an $800.00 stereo mic.
Sorry in advance if any of these questions have been asked tons of times before, but I really dont have time to sit and research old threads to see if Im asking an old question.
thanks,
Mike
