I know they are not exactly high-end speakers but they were not bad. I refer to some DB Technologies L160 Active Speakers that have minor uses on the side. Recently they had developed an increasing mains hum so opened them up to investigate.
The main electrolytics in the power supply for the +/-32v were 4700uF 35v
I can't believe an engineer designed it this way so it must have been a clever little purchaser who thought they coiuld save a penny or two by buying 35v electros rather than the 50v versions
Sure they work - just. But for how long? Only a couple of years in this case
I know electros have a limited life but running that close to the working voltage is really pushing it...
