Never miss your water till the well runs dry
Hey Schenkerguy,
Big song.
I didn't care for the fade in on the intro. Maybe let it sit at one level or introduce it with more of a slope i.e. make the intro longer and more gradual.
The git fills on the right should go up some and the keys on the left, although very fitting and well played, seemed to contradict the effect tone of the rest of the mix.
Your vocals are very solid yet, I was hoping you'd bust out with the same intensity on the vox as the rest of the song/arrangment/instruments/build. It came across as "playing it safe". I say, let the vox rip with more emotion and maybe a pitch change up if you got it in you(I sence that you do!).
The tamborine was too centered and hot. Throw that sucker to the side.
I thought the ending might have been more poiniant (sp?) if you went back to the intro. Just the acoustic and vox.
What a big song though. Everything you have works and sounds well recorded. Great writing and arrangment. I just read how many "suggestions" I've penned and I want to assure you that I don't listen this close to a song I can't grab onto. Good job so far!!!
How Did You get the song from the 840 to the comp? Have you unraveled the roland zip disk encodeing thing or did you travel a more conventional route that I'm unaware of?
Thanks for sharing a full and well crafted attempt.
Theron.
