A mic to complement my C1?

As I very quickly explained earlier in this thread, in my area of the country, most music stores don't stock many of the mics that we're discussing here, ...and many those who do carry them, don't actually have them in stock, you have to special order them, and they don't like to special order them just so you can try them out. So to try out different mics, you have to travel a bit. When Mars music was still around, they had a local shop that carried the mics and had a nice room to try them out in. My local GC sucks donkey, and they don't have any space for you to try out mics, and they're starting to get tight-arsed again (read above).

I'm not the vocalist who'll be using the mic, I'm the guitarist in the project. The vocalist is kinda settled into the whole "family" thing and the seldom gets to stray far from home (short leash). I will be using the mic for other things as well (guitar, etc.), so even if my bud and I stop working together, I'll still have uses for the mic.

Logistically, it would help if I had a short list of mics to track down and try out, rather than a huge list. I wish I lived in a huge marketplace for mics, but I don't, so I have to work with what's available to me.

Oh ok, and I just reread your other above post. So with all that in mind, I think I'd try the Oktava MC-319 first if I was you, because it's darker than the C1 so it will complement the C1... and you won't be out much money if you don't like it, plus you'll save money if you do like it because it don't cost much. It's nice to start with small bets when your first learning to gamble... and that's what your doing. Good luck.
 
I just want to complIment those who are using the appropriate spelling of complEment when referring to something that supports (or complements). We got a smart bunch of musicians around here...

In my case, it's not so much "smarts", but more accuarately a good spell checker... :p

Seems like dumb luck too, as it would appear that "complIment" is also a real word, but with an alternate meaning. So, chalk it up as a case of a good spell checker and dumb luck on my part! :D

BTW: I have been reading some good reviews of the SP T3, I may have to really consider chasing that one down locally to try out.

I'll throw a vote in for the CAD M9 tube mic. Mine makes a very nice addition to the C1 and SM7. I've got a 4040 on the way.

OZ - Are we talking a quantum improvement between the 4040 and the Baby Bottle?

The AT4040 and Baby Bottle are different takes on the same flavor. They are both hot and rich sonically. However, the Baby Bottle is like super hot and a lot more flat. It doesn't have a tad of high end like AT4040 the AT4040 does.
