A "many-voice" vocal mic...

Time to look up some reviews on some lower cost "unknown" preamps.

I just got a check for $175 in the mail. Thank god for excess financial aid.

Thanks for the kind words Richie.

This "singer" though had to have an attitude adjustment lately.
Had been getting into the habit of singing too brightly for quartet purposes,
so some well needed coaching was made to smooth things out more.
(this can easily influence mic selection BTW!)

Plus it took a long time to figure out that the Beyer M88 was excellent for me on acoustically based stuff, but trouble on pop music where you started using compression and adding digital reverb (too bright on the top). YMMV.

I have an AKG D790 and like it quite a bit too.

Right now IMHO the best overall value is the Joe Meek 3Q pre/compressor/EQ in the under $200 sweepstakes.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

I figure I'll at least get a DMP3 and possibly something else for now. One day I'll have a nice rack full of Great River, UA, API, and Neve preamps. [/dream]
