RAMI

Guest
I wasn't sure whether to post this or not. It's a little out of my usual style, and I think I re-worked it about 5 times over the last couple of years. Anyway, this is the (hopefully) finished version which was completed a few months ago.

Let me know how this sounds...or if I should just stick to my stupid, funky rock shit. :D

Thanx

Back Home (words and music by RAMI)

Dreamed that I was dreaming
Woke up drifting on an empty feeling
Now I'm trying to find my way back home
Fighting for the wheel
We lost control forgot what's real
Now we got to find our way back home
I don't want to come down from you take me high

In a sea of sad faces
Faded smiles that time erases
Everybody trying to find their way back home
But I don't want to come down from you take me high high

Chorus:
Back home
Take me back home
Take me back home
Back home

A Queen of Hearts somewhere is sad and broken
Her King turned out to be another Joker
Now she's trying to find her way back home
But I don't want to come down from you take me high high

Chorus:
Back home
Take me back home
Take me back home
Back home

Take me....

Love it. Really like the drum work as well as sound. I like your funky rock shit too, but this is a good style.

Very reminiscent of badfinger to me.
:D

Fucking'ell RAMI. You sound British!

No really comment from me on the mix, everything seems to sit pretty well, I just think the guitar that comes in at the start is a little dull sounding - that seems to be just the way you like them though which is fine.

Cool effect on the drums just after half distance.

Cool man, thanx. I love Badfinger. Actually, I love their 4 big hits. I had their "Greatest Hits", and the only songs that I didn't find shit are the 4 songs everyone knows by them. But those are 4 great tunes.

Thanx J.

I thought everyone sounded British when they sang. :D

I don't actually like dull guitars, I guess some of my tracks end up that way. I played the part you're talking about on my Strat. I probably should have used my Gibson, and maybe a different amp sound. Good thing is, I can re-amp it again.

Thanx for the help so far, guys.

A little different guitar sound for you - a little darker to my ear. But I thought it sounded good. I thought the tone on the guitar riff stuff was especially good.

Drums sound terrific. Bass too. Levels on everything are good.

My only nit is with the lead vocal performance. There are spots that seem a little bit tentative. Words here and there are almost bobbled. This mostly in the first half of the song. It was strong in the second half.

That player you're using sounds great. But I wish it gave you the ability to rewind, or go back. It'd be easier to give you time markers of what I was talking about.

Hey, thanx a lot, Trip.

Shit, I didn't think of that. I just discovered this way of linking to my tunes, but I didn't realize it only streams it. I'll put up a regular link from now on. Thanx man.

either i'm tripping, or that shwoosh sound is slooowly moving R to L... :o

what's your vocal mic Rami? forgot to ask you last time I inquired about your vocals. They sound great. Yeah I agree w TM about 1 or 2 phrases in the opening verse...but solid after that. Of course, the instruments all sound fantastic - clean guitars, especially. Great job, as usual.

Thanx a lot, buddy. Yes, the reverse snare is moving right to left, nobody spiked your drink. :D

I use an SE Electronics SE-2200a II C. Long ass fucking name now that I have to type it out. I love that mic.

I'll listen for the tentative vocals that you both mention. I really appreciate you guys pointing it out. I'd never know otherwise.

Had to Google it. "Hidden gem" was One of the reviews... Good find. Sounds great

Yeah, it was one of those things where somewhere posted that they tried it on everything and it never sounded bad on anything. I just happened to Google it, read reviews and noticed that I never read a bad review about it, anywhere in any article or review I read. I happened to want a new vocal mic at the time, so it was just good timing, and I really like it. If I had a better room, I'd order a pair and add room mics to my drums.

Nah, I mean that it sounds a bit Brit Poppish. Not in a hideous Noel Gallagher way... but the song immediately took me back to drinking super strong cider in bus shelters in the mid 90s.
