A little advice please!!

Hey all.. just needing a little advice on connecting up my mixer for recording.

At the moment i am running a cheap "ashton" mixer ( i don't think ashton has made it out of australia yet ) into my Powerbook G4.
I want to know how to connect up a system where i can record someone playing drums, but be able to record each mic i have on the drums to a different track so that i can edit their volume seperately later.

I prob don't have the right equipment at the moment so any advice on what i may need and how to go about setting this up would be most appreciated.

you'll need a soundcard with multiple inputs, either USB or firewire.

Thanks.. got the idea now... anyone got any recomendations in the way of a firewire audio interface for a mac??? Looking at hopefully around 4-8 inputs if possible!!!

Presonus Firepod would be my choice.

Ok... so if i go the Presonus Firepod... would i simply connect the direct outs of my mixer into the inputs on the firepod?? They are all balanced aren't they??? Sorry to ask so many questions!

You could do that. Also, the Firepod has 8 preamps built into it, so you may not even need your mixer when you get the firepod.
