hi all,

I just bought a POD and I'm really happy about the purchase. When I connect it trough my amp (a fender solid state), mosyt amps sounds better with the POD turned to direct instead of Amp like the manual suggest. Anyone know why this is?

I would have to second AlChuck..go with your ears.

Having never used one of these modelers, I do have a general question.

Do you still go into your preamp of your basic guitar/bass amp so you can still bypass you modeler and use the original amp sounds or do you bypass the amps preamp using the POD etc as your only preamp?

I am sure you can do it either way but I imagine there is both an impedance and gain difference coming out of the POD on some of the settings and how the impedance and gain settings match up with either the preamp input or the power amp input will affect the sound.

From what I have read alot of floor pedals sound better in front of the preamp rather than in the effects loop because of these issues and alot of rack mount effects used live sound better in an effects loop between the preamp and the power amp because of what impedance and gain levels they were optimized for.

That may help awnser part of your question but there are alot of people here much more knowledgeable than myself. The more I read the more ignorant I feel.

I just speak for myself, but I don't hear much difference between when I put the POD in my general input, or in the effectsloop.
