About 2 weeks ago, I recorded 8 songs for a local group....I posted one of the songs for comments the day I recorded it I think. Here are clips of 3 of the songs, vocals are not done yet for the other 5 songs.

Power...nice and powerful. Like the rythum to this one. Man those vocals had to hurt....Dude has a cool voice....Nice drum sounds....

Looking glass seems to be a bit heavy in the bottom end. I think it was the bass, but maybe the kick..?? Something is a bit boomy. Just muddled it up a little. Nice guitar tone again.

What it was....Nice intro....clean guitar is cool....Voice is awesome. You captured that nicely. I dig the vocals...tons of dynamics. Awesome contrast between clean, and loud. Way cool there. I think the guitar part when he screams is a bit loud. Just seemed to get in the way of some of teh vocal dynamics. Cool tune though.

All were awesome tunes man. Nice job.

What mic did you use for the Vox?

I'm working with a hardcore band for the first time. I am trying to find the right mic. I have been using a beta57 for the screamer/vox.
I dont have many choices because he wants to hold the mic when he dose his thing.

looking glass sounds really good. the vocals at some points remind me of early hopesfall.
im curious as to how you recorded them/what you used?

All of these vocals are recorded the same. might be kinda strange, but it seemed to have worked. I knew he was a screamer but he has some parts where he doesnt scream, so I hung my SP C1 to pick up the cleans but there are also 2 sm57's that I would take the screams from. One on either side positioned as close as I could get them to the C1 without touching. I just made sure to get everything behind the pop filter. I didnt relize it at the time but he was standing probably 3 feet from the mics during these recordings. That was probably the best thing because I was able to use the entire C1 tracks without them clipping during the screams, but I still panned and blended the 2 57's in to fill it out.
