A/D converters (SP/DIF)

I was looking for a simple stereo Analog to Digital converter (freestanding device) that offered unabalanced inputs and SP/DIF (rca-like) output.

The only one that vaguely suited my needs was a device called a "FLYING COW", but I know these devices have about $50 of parts in them - this was over $350.

I could buy a Lexicon SPX-500 for that much and it would do reverb as well. I just want the A-D converter, really. Like a digital DI box.

Anyone have any suggestions ? All assistance gratefully received.
 
I don't know much about the Kurzweil. What is the cost of A-D conversion per channel?
 
What I think you are looking for is the ART DI/O 24/96 AD/DA converter box. I have a couple of them and they sound surprisingly good, especially for the money. I think I paid $129-$139 each for mine, but you most often see them for just under $150. Stereo analog I/O on 1/4" connectors, SPDIF digital I/O, and 24 bit with sample rates from 44.1 to 96k.
