Lots of companies who produce outboard gear built an optional converters A/D in s/pdif or aes/ebu.
What do you think about this optional converters?
How is the quality of converters?

In most cases these converters are decent, but not terrific. I had hoped that the A/D option on my Focusrite pre would have been something to get excited about, but even the folks at Focusrite said that the converters in my Delta 66 were as good as the option card converters.

The dbx 386 has a pretty cool feature on it's a/d conversion. It's supposedly impossible to clip, and when you do, it emulates the kind of soft-limiting that goes on with tape saturation.

That's pretty cool stuff.

The Mindprint D.I. port is just a very good, clean, cheap a/d, which also comes with two very nice preamps, also. A steal for the price.
