Psh, you need to hear a STEREO power cable to really HEAR the harmonics and ghost frequencies... n00b... haha

Anyway, back on-topic, here's the Fender post-some-stripping, which I did a couple years ago and never really finished...

I've been throwing around the idea of sanding down the neck a bit... any thoughts?

I dont know why but for some reason this made me laugh.

I refinished an old strat with dupont emoron poly paint.
I didn't know you weren't supposed to spray a thick coat back then (1981).
I put 4 coats of color and probably 12 coats of clear on that strat. The finish had to be ungodly thick.

That strat sounded great. I played it with that finish until around 2002....21 years. (I think I got a pretty good handle on it's tone in that span)
In 2002 I took it back down to the bare wood and finished it with a very thin nitro laquar finish.
No difference whatsoever in the tone. It was great with the thick poly and the tone is great with the thin nitro.
That in itself has caused me not to put much stock in the hype about how much difference there is in tone between a thin coat and a thick coat.

interesting post. with a lot of time to really listen.

i do believe some can hear it though. I've a friend who in a non-bragging way talks of the low "e" is dying out and being dead and things like that ion comparison to other guitars.
on the other hand I can't tell most the time, probably very subtle.

I was reading Clapton liked to block his tremelo with a chunk of wood, but still wanted the tremelo springs and that in, as he claims he can hear a bit different tone. It mentioned he'd use 5 springs.

the Jeff Beck and others, saying to place your ear to the guitar and play acoustically one can hear the tones, and I did this one day and there really was a huge difference from guitar to guitar at times. why? I don't know. They were all Stratocasters..so finish and strings and whatever else was the difference.

strings are a big difference too, I've got some 58's and their frkn thick, sound great, but you tear your calouses off bending the strings!

It looks good! Seriously... raw, but good!

It´s rock and roll, baby! :D
