Wow - you kinda covered all of the major ethnic musical sounds on that one!

Cool guitar work, but the arpeggiated part in the first minute or so is too loud for the guitar solo.

The mix seemed to get a bit "thick" at times, too much going on in the same register.

I liked the variety, but think you may have gotten a bit carried away with it all.

Still, all in all, a good effort.

Thanks Mutt... I presume, given your comment on ethnic musical sounds, that you heard the arigato track based on the Japanese Pentatonic scale. I know the mix is quite rough, it was one of the first things I did in my studio; sort of a test. Were you able to hear the other track?!

Carlos

I just wanted to bump and see if I received any more feedback.

Thanks,

Carlos

Listened to Arigato.

Nicely performed I thought. Some good guitar work.

Some of the guitars had a little bit of a thin sound (e.g., the guitar on the right side that was dominant from :08 - :48). I think the bass could have a fuller sound as well.

Some of the guitars sounded real good - the section through 2:36 - 3:10 sounded strong.

Little pop at :12.

Thanks for the review MMM, I agree with you on how thin those guitars sound, I'm not to thrilled about their "thickness" myself but again, these tracks were done as "TESTS" I was just trying out my newly acquired gear. Even though I've been a musician for over 10 years now, I have only been recording for 1 year. I wish people would comment on the other track, "tanto que decir" I think I did a pretty good job with that one both composing and recording -wise. And the basses are all midi (I still didn't own a bass guitar when I tracked these).

I listened to the "tanto" song. Very well done, very smooth. I like the way everything blends in so well.

Nicely done man!!! Nothing for me to nit pick at on computer speakers. Very nice and original sounding. Well recorded & well played.

Great work!!

THanks Jagular, it's nice to get the possitive feedback.

Listened to "Tanto que decir".Excellent playing and singing(humming) my friend.......strong melody throughout the tune....the lead guitar at the beginning could use a tad of verb or delay IMHO.....it's such a moody song that it lends itself to that type of lead guitar instead of the bone dry licks.....the synth stuff sounds sweet along with the humming and really sets the tune off......the classical guitar playing is awsome......you're are a talent dude.like the key change near the end........I really enjoyed listening to this.

Listend to "Arigato".I caught this on the front page of nowhereradio awhile back and thought it was awesome.Nice guitar work!

Carlos

WOW! great playing... I love your style. Very interesting use of exotic scales... did you do the keyboard work too?

Carlos,

Thank you very much on your comments you guys!!! It's so cool to receive this kind of feedback, but it just makes me want to record some new stuff. I did compose, arrange and perform everything on both tracks except for some of the voices in "Tanto que decir" who were done by the singer of one of the best Costarican rock bands "Gandhi" who happens to be a great influence and my best friend.

Carlos

Carlos, in all honesty, I thought it was a little presumptious of you to start bumping your own stuff - not once but twice. However, I got over it and decide to download Tanto Que Decir.

What can I tell you? This is absolutely fantastic. Incredible stuff for a home recording. I can't find a thing to fault. The song is great. The vocals are great. The guitars are great. It's very creative. Can you tell I'm gushing?

I'm very interested to know what reverb you used on the vocals. I suspect it is not software. But if it is, you gotta tell me which one! :) Also, what's the pad you are using?

Excellent, my friend. 5 Stars for you!

Carlos, this is excellent work. You're obviously a very creative and talented individual, both of these tracks really stand out. I can't wait to hear more of your stuff. Excellent job man. :)

great work on both songs...
In the second tune, "tango...", is that phone ring at 1:35 put there on purpose or what..??;)
