My proximiity claim to fame is that while living in Princeton, NJ in the 1960's, I lived right across the street from Kurt Gödel, arguably the greatest mathematical mind of the twentieth century. By that time, though he was pretty much an insane recluse (he wouldn't eat for long periods of time because he was convinced someone was trying to poison him). In any event, apparently genius is not transmitted by proximity, as my case will attest! (Some of you may remember him from the popular book: "Gödel, Bach, and Escher")

My biggest claim to fame is myself :)

Of course there was that whole "dying on the toilet" thing... and that whole "live in Hawaii" video that I should have avoided.

hehehe..

My brother's friend lived next door to a guy who once listened to a CD that Eddie Van Halen played on.

Lopp,

Sweet... I think my mechanic knew that same guy!!! what a small world.

I met Frank Zappa in an elevator in Portland, Maine after a show back in the eighties. Thanked him for coming, like I invited him or something, and generally made a damn fool of myself. Frank was a true gent, stuck his hand out first and said "Thanks." He was already my hero but that cemented it for sure.

I went to a garage sale about 10 years ago and found an Epiphone acoustic guitar without a nut that I bought for $1.00. When I got it home I was excited to find "Van Halen" scratched into the soundboard with a nail or something. I figured this meant it must have belonged to him before I got it!

I once bought an amp that had Marschall written on it. I suppose it was owned by Jim Marschall.

I was once in a restroom with George Michael and .....uh.....nevermind.......

My Mum once changed Ronald Regan's Colostemy Bag...
Once was enough. She always said.

When I was younger, I bought a strat that if you held it in the light right you could see where someone had taped it up all over, so I figure that that guitar also belonged to Eddie Van Halen.

Me, Downside studio and Guhlenn all live in The Netherlands; a country that used to 'belong' to Van Halen as well... ;)

famous dutch folks i've met:
-Jantje Koopmans ('folk' singer)
-Bert Heerink (Heineken-songs, I played with him!)
-Rick v.d. Ploeg (political figure)
-Edwin Kelder (singer of dutch deathmetal band Altar)

if this ain't a diverse list.... !!!!

US: I talked with the guys from Flotsam and Jetsam once on a concert...Oh, and John Ricci (guitarist of Exciter) was there too. I talked with him, and he signed my metal-jacket... !

Funny thing; I had a bit part in a movie with Jennifer Jason Leah("Kansas City"), who was in "The Big Picture" with Kevin Beacon

That makes me only one degree from Kevin Beacon. Anyone closer?
