Hey guys; I'm on a budget and really can't afford to buy a whole new computer right now but I'd like to get a cd burner for the one I already have. It's only a 166meg Pentium with 64m of ram. Most of the newer cd burners I see, require at least a 200 meg chip to run them. I'm aware that my 166 might do the job anyway, but I thought I'd ask your opinions. Does anybody know of a burner that will work fine with an older machine like mine? Oh, and obviously, an inexpensive one. I'm not worried about speed so much as I am about keeping the price down. Thanks!

Well, you wouldn't believe it, but in the few short hours since I posted this message, I've actually bought a new computer that comes with a CD/RW. I was browsing around at a local CompUSA and they had a store demo of one of their own machines they build in their custom shop for $800 that had both a reg cd-rom and a CD/RW. It's a 500meg PenIII (not a celeron mind you, but the real deal), plus a sizable hard drive. Hell, the CD/RW alone would have cost me over $300, so I just couldn't pass it up. They didn't even have this machine out on the floor yet! I just happened to mention to a sales rep I was shooting the breeze with that I was in the market for a CD/RW but that I thought my machine might be underpowered for it, and that I couldn't really afford a new machine right now. When he told me about this one he had in back, it just seemed like serendipity (gee is that how you spell serendipity--let's just say I hope it's Divine providence and not mere coinsidence)!
