reference CD in wavelab

i'm using wavelab (no not for mastering, i don't know how to listen yet ) to get all my songs at the same level and add additional effects and what not.

now i'm wondering if it's good practice to have the reference CD i'm using to check my level loaded in wavelab, and i'm i risking lost in any quality in sound
