8" Woofer or 5" w/Subwoffer

Ok i've searched the forum and everything and I havent quite found what im looking for so.........

Im saving up to get some monitors I only record Rap vocals.... All I do is mix my vocals and I normally get the instrumental track as a single track.... tho that will stop soon when I start making my own beats.......

so my question is this seeing as I mix bass heavy hip hop tracks should I go from cheaper monitors with 5" drivers i.e. Wharfedale 8.1 and a sub..... or should I get something with a 8" driver and worry about a sub latter i.e M-Audio BX8's

also I need some recommendations on a good sub seeing as I havent been able to find that either........

I didnt set a price range yet because as I said im saving now and whatever i decide on ill have to save for anyway........

Read this article. Go with 8's for true bass. Avoid the bx8s. Avoid subwoofers, they can make you too relaxed with a bass mix. See how your mixes translate ONTO a system with a sub, but subs for mixing is not good IMO unless you HAVE to go with small monitors.

Look at the top 3 in this article, you can't go wrong and all for under $500 per pair.
