8 more channels

The truth is out there!
I am trying to expand my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 from the 8 channels it comes with stock, to 16 channels. It can be expanded to 20 inputs using SPDIF and Firewire, I'm just looking to use the firewire.

I don't need preamps because I'll use the external pres I already have. I'm just looking for some ideas and devices that can work with the focusrite stuff and add 8 more channels. I'm not even sure where to start, so I don't have a budget in mind yet.

I know I can link another Pro 40, or something like an Focusrite Octapre, but I wasn't sure if there were other options that would work for me.

Thanks!

I think you meant to say in can be expanded to 20 using SPDIF and ADAT... ;)
I use a couple of ADAT pre's to bring in extra channels to my Tascam gear... In the studio, I use a Presonus Digimax D8 and on my remote rig, an M-Audio Octane.
Some folks (myself included) have found the Behringer ADA8000 to be both affordable and surprisingly reliable for this task as well...

Pretty much anything that brings in 8 analog channels and converts it to ADAT should work for you.

:)
