I need an 8 channel rackmount preamp for my Delta 1010. What i am looking for is this:

All analog (no need for ADAT, etc ...)

for EACH channel ...

FRONT:
XLR IN
1/4" IN
Gain

BACK:
1/4" OUT

Anyone ever seen anything like this? I know I'm pretty picky on this

Just get one of these and a patchbay.

how much you tryna spend? for 8 channels on the 'cheap' relatively speaking I'd get 2 Syteks , I don't think they meet your connective requirements though

hmmm .... I've come to the conclusion that I'll need to custom build a patch bay and use a preamp like the one above ... thanx all :) Anyone know where I can get cheap sheilded twisted pair cable by the foot?

Sp 828

The SP 828 will not be available for purchase till February 2005.

They are premarketing only at this time.

get your cable at redco.com. Why do you have to make your own patchbay?

Unniversal audio has a new 8 channel pre coming out. The people I've talked to are very excited about it. It would probably be higher end than the behringer or studio projects.

I totally forgot to mention it in my last post, but I love my focusrite isa428. Its only 4 channels but it rocks. Very clean and transparent, but with subtle charater. I love running acoustic guitar through it, as well as overheads. I would not use it for vocals, but even with the other units suggested you would still won't another pre for vocals.

I know the two units I have suggested are higher in price, but its worth it. Don't cheep out. The higher end you can get, the better.

hi there

i'd agree with the ISA428 but if you want a cheaper option, the focusrite octopre gives you 8 channels and i used one the other day and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of it.

good luck
