Sup, I have recently purchased my 2nd 788, why, hmmm, cuz here is the deal. I owned my previous 788 less than two years, one day it had some kinda of power failier, the screen was flashing and the speakers were popping. I shut it off and then turned it back on still the same time, every time after that the screen got dimmer til there was no power running threw the 788 at all.

What happened, the repair man said he was positive it was a power surge til I told him I have it running threw a back up battery/surge protecter. Something jus went bad. So why would I buy another, I almost bought a pc til I remembered all the files I have backed up in "TASCAM FORMAT", sucks. My suggestion to peeps who own one, I think its a great machine for the price range by far, good quality and what not, but not only would I back up all my songs up in the Tascam format, but I would back them up in WAV as well for those of you who are running 2.2v. So if your 788 fries, and you dont wanna spend the money buying a new one cuz all of your songs are backed up in Tascam format, which is unreadable to any other pc/machine, I would strongly suggest backing up in wav as well, its time consuming, but to me, it would be worth it......... PEACE,,, pM

OH, the really bad thing, It was going to cost $300, which is exactly 1/2 the price of a brand new one, just to get the part, which I guess was the whole mother board. Hmm, but Tascam can be cool if you reason with em, they usually will work with you..... peace. pM
