Hi,

I did the master on the 788 and then cloned the master onto 2 tracks. The master itself is not distorted - listened on CD and 'check master' on 788, but when I play the tracks I cloned, the levels are badly distorted - no effects on the tracks - no compression, no eq. Any ideas why the original master is fine but the cloning of it is distorted?

Answer = Though the EQ was off on the tracks (the joint 7/8 channel) the EQ gain was on +6 - didn't think it had any effect with EQ off. It does. Still sounds like there's a touch of distortion compared to the original master (suggesting that the cloned master through the channels does gain a little) but certainly nothing like the horrendous noise I was getting before.
