Nakatira

That Norwegian Bastard
This was an early attempt on prog for me.
I`m sort of in between if I should try and remake this song with real live instruments. this song is 4 years old..
I now know how to play the flute now and my new flute is not bent out of tune...

so I`m more into song criticque I guess, though a comment on the sound wouldent hurt.

This would probbaly be one of my most ambitious songs, I even bought a Pan flute for the final part.

I had now condensors when recording this song, its all done with dynamic.

all vox are done with a sm58.

hope you likey likey :D :D :D

Naka, nice tune. How did you do the drums? They really fit this song. The whole thing is an awesome soundscape. You and Rami are just unbelievable..... :)

Thanks Dogman..
I can always count on you listening, and my friend that means a lot.
The drums were done with midi, I programmed for ages and ages, but in the end I got something to work with, I aslo cut all the reverb on the soundbanks.
This was an old program so I dident have any sample tanks, like I do know.
But I also have a drum kit now so I`m considering redoing this.

and its an honour being mentioned with Rami, who I think seriously rock as a song writer\instrumentalist,vocalist, and a killer drummer.

he`s light years ahead of me...

again thanks Dogman I`m hounored...

Well, thanks for the compliments. I tell you though, listening to good music, is just cool. And there is lots on here, including stuff by you, Rami, LPC, and many others. It keeps me plugging along.

2x again thanks for the compliments, it really pleases a drunk Hippy :D

Alrighty, cool... it's always good to hear your tunes. I guess the other drunk hippy on the board likes the drunk hippy's music :D

Alrighty, typing as listening...
Love the flute, seriously... I always wanted to use flute in my progressive tunes, but gave up on trying to make the midi keyboard sound like a real flute.

Like the low voice in there too... the music there kind of reminds me of your tribal histeria song, you got that same cool sound going...
man, that is just awesome at 3:51, you could make that part really dreamy and out there, that'd be awesome. If you really wanted to freak people out, I always wanted to try a part something like this and have instruments/sounds moving around the stereo field or coming from different places... might make people sick though   this is cool though, I like how you extend out your jams and build them... it's nice not to worry about how long the song is and just be free with it...

maybe you could get some flute going later in that build too, although it sounds really cool when it comes in with your vocals... i think you should really ride that flute in the song... makes it unique

Just my opinion, but I think the sound of the keyboard at 7:42 might sound better better if changed a bit... the 8:40 sounds are really cool though, love that part, then the flute is back! nice :D and the same outro as the intro/very cool

Yeah, I really enjoyed this, can't really comment on the song structure yet since I've just heard it once, but personally I'd go with a thumbs up on the rerecord. Heck, I'd even help you out if you wanted, keyboards, backup vox, anything... but it's your song ;) a good one

Thank you nakedog for the kind reviews its really apreciated....
the dream part of the song is seriously inspired by Queen...
I dident have the best of equipment then so some of the sounds are quite cheap.

but I might take you up on the flute thing....

I`ve never been happier then when i recorded this song, I lost time, forgot when to eat , sleep and ect....

its recorded on the same equipment and in the same preiod as Tribal hysteria so you have a good ear my friend.

I would love to make it a jam but I dont know were to start, I would need drums as a frist thing, I think this song might be a band song, all though I`m not sure.
thanks for the offer though :) , but maybe you never know :)

thank you very much for your thorough review :)

it's too bad I don't have a digital camera, I could post scenes from the studio tonight, pics of a drunk guy overplaying a synth, hitting it too hard

Sure Naka Airlines, no problem ;) That like 7:40-8:30 part or so sounds like an ocean jam to me... you could have some acoutic guitars with piano there and really feel the laid back ocean groove there...

Yeah, you should take me up on the flute, that's good stuff :D

I know what you mean really getting into a recording... sometimes when I'm really into recording something no matter where I am I'm thinking about, writing stuff down... going straight to the guitar from the bed... good times
