I decided to do this as a new thread rather than sorting through the old one.

This is the latest mix of this one. I brought the drums out more and tried to make the rhythm guitar more full sounding. I tried to make the solos less harsh and processed sounding. Overall I think it's a more natural sound but it may have too much low end.

I dunno, you tell me.

Thanks again!

Phil

Hi Phil.... :)

It is a bit muddied in the low end. It interfers with listening to the rest of the mix actually.

What I can hear of the guitars, they do sound great!!!!

This song has got to be a number one hit...even at this late date!!!

The Vox sound very good too with the harmonies. I do believe you got the sound...as soon as some low end goes. :D

I agree with True's quad post about the low end. I'd try low cutting the mix somewhere below 40 to 80 hz to remove that boominess.
The song has a good rocking feel to it. Drums sound good. Guitars sound good too. The rhythm may be a bit fuzzy during the louder parts IMO.
Possibly a little more EQ separation between lead and rhythm, but still sounds good.
Powerful song, I like this, just heard it 3 times :D

EDIT: the "fuzzy" rhythm actually isn't too fuzzy when I don't have it cranked up to ridiculous levels :D

Yeh! This is a cool arrangement. It's a perfect song. It just needs mix tweaking -- again. The balance is all wrong so that the bass end dominates and the vocals are tiny. Somebody who knows something about anything must be able to suggest exactly what's wrong, coz once you sort that out this will go straight to number one.

Good luck

Phil,
Are you mixing with headphones?
This sounds sweet on my Sony cans. Maybe a little cut in the bottom end but I'd expect a bit extra in h'phones.
The clarity of the LP static is better & it's role is obvious now. BUT I think it must be the panning of it that seems odd. If a record clicks it's usually do it more in one ewar & stay pretty much in place until it's passed. Can you just set it at 40%L or something? Sorry.
Ace work as is though.

Nice tune.....I agree with Ray on the static...maybe not pan that.

Little big in the bottom end....maybe cut that just a small amount. Drums sound great..there was just a Tom roll, and it sounded really nice. I think if you can back off the right amount of bottom end, it will make the vocals a bit easier to understand. If you merely bump the vocals up, they may stick out too much.

Othere than that, this one is taking shape very nicely. A bit more tweaking, and it will sound even better.

Nice one man...

Whoah! I love this. I wish the vocals came up just a bit. I don't know if you changed things since people posted in this thread, but it sounds great to me, I hear nothing wrong with the low end, either. Great tune, and some very imaginative drumming, JUst the right beats changes at the right time. Love the feel of the verses especially. Good stuff.

Great tune! It is a bit heavy on the bottom but sounds great regardless. Seems a little more noticable at 2:16 and on because its a stronger bottom end on the left than right side. Drums sound fabulous.
