7 Days Till Panto

If you like to see behind the scenes of a panto - you might like some of the content here - Stage boxes, radio mics, clips from the show - hope you find it interesting.
I've got 5 technical people directly working for me, plus 12 who work for the venue - and then 27 cast and 3 wardrobe people - quite a big bunch! We also have 7 specialist in this week who fly people, and do the clever stuff.

Today some of the clever hydraulics failed. Safety valves sensors and start up sequences. Probably good it failed before the flying motorbike over the audiences heads did NOT turn upside down!! It cannot land upside down! Makes audio seem simple.

Yikes. You all are down to crunch time. Hope they get the bugs worked out. I enjoyed your behind the scenes video.

We’ve discovered there is a hydraulic valve that needs a safety pin inserting fully and it wasnt quite home allowing the pressure to bleed off. This bit of kit flys a full size Italian style scooter over the audience. The actor is strapped to the seat with a full harness and it turns upside down! Mega impressive but I’m not allowed to photo it. Imagine a sports style big camera boom, but on steroids and then 9 people push, heavy, shove and press buttons! This is one of the official pics. Here's the last installment, now we're open, and 74 shows left to do - 70,000 tickets sold!
It's a flit around the stage, the orchestra pit - where AKG Blue Line and Sennheiser 421 mics are popular or the sax and trumpet. You can see some of the things we're doing in th pit to be nice to the musos. YouTube spotted the 15 secs of music and grabbed the rights!!
