Back in the 60's and early 70's master was simple what was the sets up like?

I think mastering has ruined the music production making it to clear and way to much headroom

When i use to sit around with my real friends i use to have to crank my stereo preamp and power amp up so u get compression and saturation from the stereo preamp and power amp u loose this also because of master

Was the set up like taking the stereo mixdown and running to a Multiband compressor/limiter and thats it really and adding some reverb to glue everything together

Now of days they have master houses with big 31 band EQ's, mastering compressors, finalizes, headroom gain structures, mastering limiters
etc. and **bass exiters and aural exiters**, **mastering reverbs**

How do i make mastering simple with a simple setup ?

:D :D :D :D :D :D  :p

Proper tracking and mixing will go a long way. If your mix is solid you could do something as simple like an L2 bringing the level up and be happy with what you have which is a home recording. There is a good argument for sending your stuff to an ME in the case where your going to duplicate many copies to avoid errors. Other than that I would focus time and energy on tracking and mixing, first.

It's a Phil Spectorizer :D :D
Damn...I could have sworn it was an Instpectorizer Clouseau. There are many buyers, but not many Sellers.

OK...I have to apologise for that one...I know it got at least one groan.

How about this.....ah, never rmind.

yea but is the Behringer DSP1424P Ultramizer Pro more of a finalizer because i don't really like finalizers i like multiband compressor/limiters but they are pricey if u want a good one i just want a cheap one who makes a cheap one

i cant remember walty.

those 31 banders, the're off the hook, you have to get one!

Just get something like Har-Bal, load it up, make all the little squiggly lines at the same level and click the 'magic' button and that's all there really is to it.

The demo is only in 8-bit but we're talking 60s stuff here so maybe it will give you that authentic classic sound that you're after.

the best gear you can possibly get you already have

you EARS... before you can get the sound you want you have to know what sound you want... simple as that

the best most expensive gear in the world is useless if you don't know how to use it, then again the shiitest cheapest equipment in the world can do wonders if in the right hands
