haha. this thread it hilarious.

but, besides all the rap hatin...

*Probably several tracks
*really compressed/proccessed
*he's got people like dre and hi-tek producing him.
*outrageous signal chain is right FOR SURE. ha.
*play with panning a lot, get up on your mic to keep it thick.

Yup.. all of that.. PLUS if he happens to be recording on Dre's setup don't forget he's recording through some nice neve pre's ::drewl::

I like Fifty's new... oh wait that was the Miami Hurricane Football team's new (2 year old) song. For a bunch of amatures, it sure sounds like the rest of the hip hop on the radio.

Just in case you haven't heard it http://media.putfile.com/7th-Floor-Crew

It's not envy.

I really don't hate any rappers/hip-hop. I don't have the talent to produce that kind of stuff. I don't have the background/breeding/raising to do that.

I'm just happy that I can figure out how to plug in my MR-8...

I'm not complicated...

Formula for becomming a huge rap star...

Sell drugs + go to jail + get shot + be dumber than a box of rocks so everyone can take advantage of you...

its not envy. its hatred for a minimalist musical artform where spittin' game is more important than lyrical ability (Jay-z vs. Nas), where 'beefin' with another rapper helps sell records rather than music selling records.

for the record, part of 50's sound comes from the natural lisp he has from getting shot in the jaw. that's why he raps about "being from NY but sounding southern". the 'dimples' in his cheek are exit wounds. if you listen to his pre-shooting tracks and his post-shooting tracks his voice is much more distinguished post-shooting.

so if you have a natural lisp and have the ability to double your vocals in a way that the 2nd take is close enough to the original to thicken it but not so close that it phases.

then do other takes where you purposely emphasize certain phrases.

now compress the double and emphasis tracks Motown style.

if you really want to sound special add delay (to your taste depending on the BPMs of the track) to the main vocal track, and add a touch of reverb to the heavily compressed doubled, emphasis, and ad-lib tracks.
