hi

i'm trying to convert some record albums to cds, and i've done it before with my 424 ---> cool edit.

i just plugged the turntable's RCA's into the sub inputs of the 424. as i understand it, the sub inputs provide a direct route to the master fader. but for some reason, I can't get the signal in the line out anymore.

can somebody explain the proper settings?

thanks!

:D A turntable needs a preamp to boost signal to proper level.
Use a preamp thats used in home audio( like for the control center to send signal to stereo amp) or use a reciever then send signal out the Tape OUTS on reciever.

thanks for the response, muttley

i know that i'm supposed to have an amp, but i've done it before without an amp, and then i just cranked the file up a million dbs in cool edit. now i can't seem to get the 4-track to pick up the signal at all, because there are too many buttons and i'm dumb

oh well. no big deal, anyway

:D Is your's the original 424?? I can help, I have one, I'm not sure if the inputs are going to be sensitive enough to amplify the signal from a turntable. The output of a cartridge used in most turntables is less than that of a decent dynamic mic.
If you want help let me know.

yeah, any help you can give would be cool. I'm positive that it's sensetive enough, because i've done it before, but mine is an Mk2.

thanks

:D If the mkll has mic ins use that, have mic cables with the male end going into mixer, the other end have male RCA ends going into the turntable base.
You'll have to make these.
Turn up input fairly hot on mixer to record.
