Hi,
I have just acquired a 424 Mk 1 for €10 and want to get it up and running again. Have tested inputs/tracks/outputs with a guitar and headphones, basically the mixing desk side is working fine.
The motor works too but I know that the drive belts have long gone as a piece of one fell out of the casing yesterday.
So, motor turns but capstan and pinch wheel don't. Is there any chance that replacing the drive belts will make the play/pause/rec keys operational again. As things stand they don't react and the lights don't come on, even temporarily. Or am I looking at a separate electronic failure?
