right now i own a 4033. but i'm interested in purchasing another condensor because i'd like to be able to have a larger palette. how does the v67 compare to the 4033? i know it's cheaper, but what about quality? and a lot of people are raving about the c1. how do these mics stand up to each other in your opinion? i'd use the mic for guitar, vocals, sax, drums, etc -- as in a versatile number of applications. thanks.

I've not used a C-1 or the V-67 but I do have a pair of 4033's that I get a LOT of mileage out of. You can do a lot with a pair of 4033's.

I've got a pair of C-1's and like them a lot, but judgeing from what I've read in this forum, you can't go wrong with any of them.

I THINK MY NEXT MIC(s) ARE GOING TO BE THESE. WHY NOT STICK WITH A WINNER?

If you are looking for something versatile, you already have that in the 4033. Maybe get another. If you want versatile and cheap, I'd suggest a v93 MXL over the v67. The 67 is good for a lot of voices but isn't so outstanding on anything else, in my experience. I don't have a C1, so I can't comment on that one.

I've got a V67 and find it very versatile on vox, acoustic guitars and kick drum.

T_chance is right, stick with a winner.
Of course, all of these are winners.
Very informative.
From now on, I think I will stick with the winner.

Im a big v67 fan, but if you have the 4033, there wont be much that the v67 or C1 can do that it can't, if anything.......maybe use the $$$ for a different preamp?......

I second Crawdad's recommendation of the Marshall mxl v93/2003.

This little snip of my Telecaster was recorded with a V93. Don't know how helpful a tiny soundbite is, but here ya go.

I thinking about the C3, the omni pattern is great for just sticking in the middle of the room and gather-round (gearge martin used omnis on almost everything the beatles recorded)

I use the 4033 both live and in studio. I mainly use it for my bluegrass band. We all use the one mic and it is perfect. How can you mess up that mix? hehe.

if I had a 4033, my next purchase would be a NTK or maybe a C3. :)

why?

I find that the ntk can sound good, but not great.

I'll reserve comments on the c3 as I've only heard it once.

I dont know many mics out there that'll trounce the 4033. Try a u87.

i dunno cyan...i've heard some awesome stuff with the NTK. but, i think the SP T3 is going to be my next anyways.
