4 Track Recordins/Non-Drum Intros

Hello
If I have songs that start with bass or guitar, I have the drummer click the timing on his sticks. If I have this clicking going on in between some actual drum beats (hope that's not too confusin), is it ok to just drop the drum level and bring it back up real quickly (on the mixdown)?

If the players are capable, it's best to have the brummer leave out a couple of clicks. As an example for an 8 beat count, the drummer can click beats 1-6 but not 7 & 8. The other players only have to count 2 silent beats (which any musicain should be able to do). This then leaves you 2 beats to bring the faders back up. This can also work on the front end (bringing the faders down) - if the drummer counts 2 silent beats before clicking the sticks it gives you time to bring the faders down (very important if cymbals are still ringing out).
