i record using a mac and express logic 7. I want to record drums off a four mic setup (kick, snare, 2 overheads), onto separate tracks in logic. I have found many interfaces but they all seem to offer either 2 or 10plus inputs. The only one that i found with 4 ins was the M-Audio quantro, but i have read bad things about it.

anyone offer me any help?

what do you have against more than 4 inputs??? never know when you might need them in the future. what if you decide you want to close mic the highhats along with that? Im not sure if $$$ is your issue here but if so...the terratec phase 88 is a pretty nice card for only $300 and it gives you room to expand in the future.

M-Audio Delta 44 4 inputs $150
M-Audio Delta 1010LT 8 inputs $220

the issue with more than 4 is the budget thing yer. the delta 44 - do these work with macs? - i had the impression they were pc interfaces? i agree that i may want to do some close micing in the future - but for now my budget is tight - for the interface and also mics.

its a imac g5 is use so it doesnt allow you to install pci cards as far as i am aware. therefore its usb or firewire im looking for.???

The second Delta 44 I bought had a sticker on the front of the box saying 'PowerMac G5 compatible'. I'm guessing a PowerMac is not the same as an IMac.

I think that powermac's can run both PC and mac software so it would make sense that it would accept PCI cards. these are different from imac's
