I'm in the middle of a studio overhaul. Building bass traps, a touch of foam, etc. Anyway, I have a 3'x6' window about 18" behind my monitors.

Currently there's no window treatment on it, (which is sort of nice when I'm mixing since I can look out at my backyard) but I realize I could probably benefit from some sort of treatment. I was thinking heavy curtains. Maybe good for some sound absorption when closed and still able to get some light in the room when I'm just practicing and not mixing or recording.

Anybody done something similar or have other ideas on what I might consider.

Why do you think you need anything there at all? Your speakers face away from that window, yes? This article on my company's site explains my take on the (lack of) need to treat the front wall behind the speakers:

Ethen, You're THE MAN! I've been soaking up info from your site like a sponge the past couple days. In fact I'm gonna PM you on a couple questions. Thanks for the link I'll take a look right now.

I'll need to put something up in the window that can block light at least since the glare in the summer months makes it impossible to see my flat screen... plus the wife may want to run around in her undies now and then and may not want the neighbors seeing her

Oh... I see I can't PM you. So here's my question publically. I have 12 pieces of 2" thick 703. A 10x14 room with one door, the window mentioned and a 6'x7' mirrored closet door(s). The door and closet keeps me from putting anything in one corner.

What would you suggest? I can double up on some of the 2" 703 to make some 4" traps if you suggest...

BTW, I know you're a professional and if you'd prefer to be paid for your consulting services, I wouldn't be opposed to an offline discussion about that.
