So, i'm wanting to know if there is some sort of 32 channel control desk, similar to the behringer bcf2000, but with 32 channels. I know that with the behringer you can have them linked up, but i'd rather have it all in one nice neat desk, maybe with a transport section too.

Does anything like this exist? I'm not looking for a full on desk, just a controller for my DAW.

Cheers.

Digidesign, Euphonix and SSL all have pretty nice control surfaces.

I've found the tascam us-2400, awesome piece of kit, exactly what i want, except i'm planning on a 32 channel rig, so i'll be 8 faders down :(

So, If anyone knows of anything like that with 32 channels, please let me know!!!

Someone did give you a few names before I posted

Was going to surgest the MCU pro by Mackie but you would need the MCU and 3 extenders then it would not be a one piece unit. It would be 4 pieces.

On one foot note if a extender gave you issues you could take it out and then still have 24 channels provided the one that failed was not the MCU its self.

But at the same time what ever unit you choose will it support your DAW software plus how many channels are you recording at once ?? Plus how much your going to spend on the unit ??

I'm only looking for a console like that tascam one though, if that had 32 channels it would be ideal!!! It has everything i need on it, nice and simple.

Ist gut, yah:

Too bad they don't make it any more.

You could make one pretty easy with stuff from Doepfer. Two of these: http://www.thomann.de/index.html?partner_id=97926&page=gb/doepfer_doepfer_dial_electronics_board.htm and some pots would get you there. It would be light years better than anything you could buy.

I've made the Wheel Electronic and Doepfer is a class act company, in a totally different league than Beheringer, think Kia compared to Mercedes.

So, there is only the Tascam us-2400 and the Mackie MCU with extensions that fit the bill at the moment from what i can see.

Is it just me, or is there a HUGE gap in the market for a 32 Fader Controller???

I think a lot of people in the digital world have just gotten used to banking over on digital surfaces. When you get up to that size surface I think a lot of engineers just opt for a fully functional console. The smaller surfaces also save a ton of space.

I briefly had the Tascam 24 channel and could never get it setup properly. I ended up withe Mackie Control Univeral and I had 2 extenders but one of those went bad so I'm working with a 16 channel setup. Works pretty good.

You could make one for a fraction of what it would cost to buy, it would be light years better quality than what they sell and it would be custom made for your exact needs.

The Doepfer stuff is very high quality.

There's another company (name escapes me) that makes a setup so you can use game controllers, like the Wii wireless stuff to control MIDI. You could use gaming joysticks - the kind with tons of buttons and each can be assigned to a MIDI controller. I've seen some nice ones at Walmart that would work nicely (and look nuts)!

most of us would rather page through a mix than spend the kind of money doing it right would require... by the time you get to where you really need 32 channels of controll... then euphonix/ssl/digi doesnt sound like that much money...

I guess it is a great time to buy a MCU Pro the price has
dropped a couple hundred dollars. I think there all out of
stock and they won't be available to March. I found a place
that put be on the waiting list for around $930.
