In 2001 I brought a 788 for £650. 5 Years later I brought a 2488 for £600. That's progress.

so i'm reading the manual, and i would plug in my active martin pickup in that "special" input--to record in the 2488? or just a normal input?

while i'm at it, do i need a direct box? and mainly for my Martin accoustic/electric? i used one of the studio one's where i did my 2nd album.....;)

GC has them fairly cheap.....

Either,...

but you don't need a direct box. All the inputs should accept a direct line from the guitar.;)

A very interesting question this. The front socket that feeds Input H is a Hi-Z interface for matching the output of instruments (i.e. same a s D.I. box). However, I'm never sure if active (as opposed to passive pickups) should be treated in this way. Anyone any thoughts? Either way I can't tell the difference between plugging an instrument into this or a normal input except for the position of the trim control.
