2488 D.I. ch. 8

Can anyone tell me if the D.I. built into the 2488 is based on any other D.I. ?
So far I've found that bass seems to work quite well through it, but not guitar.

I don't think it has any special circuitry to emulate another DI (like a Baggs Para DI, or whatever). As far as I know, the front-panel Input H is just a high-impedance input to match the output of a passive guitar or bass, whereas the Input H on the back is low impedance. If you have an active guitar or bass, I'd try the rear input.
