Is Roland really that bad? I've played a few Roland combos that rock, and seem to have a pretty cool sound. I especially liked the one with the tremolo feature, but I've never owned one.

I'm not asking for too much, but I have a few requirements:

2 channels that can be switched between by a remote footswitch.

decent reverb

nice warm distortion

at least 35 watts

I'm using a 35 watt Ampeg tube head right now, and love the sounds, but you can't switch by remote between the channels, and there's no onboard reverb. I also want a combo amp. Trying to simplify my world a it.

I guess you can get a pretty nice fender for that money. Some say the distortion sucks - but I like it (at least the one of the small fenders). There are even Marshalls at this price range... at least in europe and I guess in the US it's even quite a bit cheaper.
Or try hughes&kettner.

Keep in mind I'd rather have 50 watts plus, 35 watts I'd onlt settle fo if it was a gem.

the hughes & kettner has 60 watts... ok, only 1 speaker - that might be a problem for you. but hughes & kettner amps are quite powerful.

(and for the fenders and marshalls: I really do NOT talk about small practice amps!)

I think the only Roland amp that people consider to be a 'Real' amp is the Jazz Chorus. A buddy of mine has one with Eminence speakers instead of the originals, he uses it with an old Roland GP8 processor and a Quadraverb, he gets some killer tones.
