2 AKG C1000s for overheads?

Hi guys, great BBS... I own 1 C1000S now and am considering buying another to use as overheads for my drum kit. Anybody using these for that purpose? How well do they do the job? Thanks for any input!

Yeah - I've used them for O/heads - work fine, a bit tissy in the extreme highs but OK

Thanks so much for your comments, John. You're right about the extreme highs. Would I be better off getting a pair of R0DE NT-1s and using those for overheads? I could then use the C1000 on my high tom... I was going to get another SM57 for that, but if I'm better off with the NT1s for overheads, I'd opt to put the AKG on a tom. Which way would you guys go?? It's a four-piece kit.

The mics I have now:
Shure 52 for kick
Shure 57 for snare
AKG C3000 (the old one) for low tom
AKG C1000 currently an overhead
NTV Tube mic occasionally used as overhead. Will probably be used as a room mic after I get two more mics.

I need a total of 2 more mics... If you were me which ones would they be? My budget is $400-500. Thanks for your help!!!

I've used a pair on overhead and I liked them. Like John said they are really high on the highs. Hopefully very soon I'll have an mp3 up in the mp3 clinic and you can hear what they sound like.
 
Personally I find the C1000's way to 'tinny' for my taste. If I were you, I would sell blood/semen/hair/c3000/toenails..whatever and save 200 more bucks and get a matched pair of Mc012 from the sound room. http://www.oktava.com ..They are really great mics for the money. Use those as overheads, the 52 on the kick, the 57 ont the snare and the NTV as a room mic/or third under/over/behindhead. You can get a great sound with only those mics. Good luck!
 
I've had a lot of success with the C1000s personally. It's dynamic and open, great for overheads. Good mic for its price range.
