Will 2.1 computer speakers work as monitors for a digital multi-track recorder??

They connect to the back of my computer by a 1/8th jack. Is there anything i can purchase to make them work with my multi-track?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks =]

I researched getting PC speakers to work with an itnerface that only has 1/4" outs. Basically the best you can do is fine something that takes a stereo 3.5 mm and splits it two two 1/4" cables, then running cables into the unit. That's rather expensive and pointless IMO.

How is a $4 adapter from Radio Shack expensive?

The bigger issue is the computer speakers will suck for audio monitoring purposes. That isn't what they were designed for, you would be doing just as well hooking your computer to a boom box for monitors.

What I use to do awhile ago is get a 1/4 to 1/8 headphone adapter and plug the speakers into the headphone jack and just turn them down or off while recording. We'd really have to k ow exactly what you have to tell you exactly how to do it though.

Monitors

Yeah, I think i would be a lot better off just investing in new monitors right? Just trying to save all the money i can you know? Im defiantly going to keep trying to hook them up in someway because they are really nice computer speakers with a 5.25 sub. The max output power of them is 56 watts. Thats not too bad right?

Thanks alot.

Multi-track recorder

Ive been looking at the Tascam DP-02CF Portastud

It seems like a reliable multi-track recorder for recording solo projects with acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Im just not looking to spend a whole bunch of cash on just a personal studio.

Thanks again.
