I would like to create all my drum parts for my songs using a computer based drum sequencing program, utilizing loops and samples. I have heard some good samples and loops from "Drum Kit From Hell" "BFD" etc.

I need to know what I have to purchase to get this going.
First off I have a 2.8gig pentium 4 computer, Windows XP home, with 512MB ram.
I will probably upgrade to more RAM in the future.
The computer has an integrated sound card.

I would like to be able to sync up my created drum tracks to my Yamaha AW4416 so I still will have full control over volume, panning, sounds etc. with my drum tracks. without losing any tracks on the 4416.

I need software that is user freindly, as you can obviously see I am midi challenged.

If you could please list out all the required hardware, software,
and everything else I will need to get me up and running It will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

I'm sold on Acid Pro4 for that sort of thing. Great for doing drums even if your're not just using loops and wanna do one shot programming. You can even use it for recording and editing regular stuff too and it supports lots of different plugins...

Thanks Daffydrunk I will look into ACID.
Any other suggestions? Hardware needed?
Thanks again

Don't really need any special hardware other than at least a midi to joystick/midi port cable so you can externally sync acid to your Yamaha. Don't really know much about any other apps although there's Fruity Loops, Reason and others. Since I figured out Acid, I actually use it to do everything since it so easy to use, I don't need to record more than 1 thing at a time, and it works great for editing multitrack audio. Once you figure it out you could probably even run your tracks into it 1 track at a time via SPDIF to edit and mix your songs in the computer. I'm not exactly the best drum programmer, but the stuff I've done in Acid is better than anything I've tried to pull off with a drum machine. Neat app...
