The Iphone sounds surprisingly good.

Yeah, it's acually not a bad mic. I've heard of TV producers that record voiceovers for their shows on their iPhones when they can't make it to the studio and just need a quick bit for a scene or two.

Here Is a quote from Guitarplayr82 from an other thread ......

At minimum you will need an audio interface, a mic, and a DAW. Go check out the "Mics Under $100" thread in the microphones section to get an idea of what would be a good mic for you. Most people here will recommend Reaper for a DAW because it's free for 30 days, is cross-platform, and there are a lot of people on this site that can help you with it. Some names to look up for an audio interface are M-Audio, PreSonus, Emu, Focusrite, and Edirol/Roland. There are plenty other interface brands out there, so you'll probably want to shop around to find the interface that's just right for you. Once you have found a setup that works for you, feel free to post it here and we can tell you if it looks good or if we would change some things. Good luck!

mark his words well! And you'll get what you want and need for little money.
Just don't for get you don't have to purchase new ~ used gear is fine especially for first time recorders who are getting their feet wet.

Thanks for the quote man :) I agree used gear is a great solution for beginners, especially if it is something that doesn't date or wear out quickly like a microphone, a MIDI controller, a piece of rack equipment, or even a full instrument. I have a used guitar, a few used guitar pedals, some used cases, a used pair of PC speakers with a sub...

What's that saying.....?
One mans junk is an other mans treasure.;)

thanks guys!
i tried looking for the thread "Mics Under $100", but i can't find it :o

could u link it please? :D

i'm back lol
i was busy with uni ;)

so, i read the thread u post, but it's hard for me to understand something :D because there is a lot of technical stuff...
so i was thinking about going to a big store in the city i live (Milano), and ask for a mic for home recording purpose :)

i was surfing that store's website, and i found a mic that should be good:
AKG PERCEPTION 120
i see there are 2 models...the usb is for 145€, the "normal" one is for 98€

then i see the BEHRINGER B1 for 89€

GOLDEN AGE PROJECT FC1 MK II for 89€

any opinion about these mics?

then i still don't know if buy a usb mic or a analog ones...i gues with the analogs the quality should be better, but i should also buy and audio interface (and i really don't know anything lol)...can u please give me an example of entry-level interface?

thanks a lot, and sorry for the tons of questions :D

Hi Al
Yes it can be very over whelming at first but believe me you'll look back at this one day and laugh about it.
An interface example would be the Focusrite saffire pro24, or the presonus audiobox usb, these are just a few examples but will get you a thinking in the right direction.
That AKG (normal as you put it) will work out fine for you.

Just NEVER go to a store and ask a clerk what you should get !!!!
For the most part they are clueless and if they're not the will sell you stuff that you don't need, just to make a commission.
It's best to do your homework as your doing now then walk in to a store (or purchase on line) with knowledge. Then if a salesperson is trying to take you for a ride you can tell them to go to the bathroom in their hat :D.

Do you live in Milano Texas USA or Milano Italy? My guess is Italy and if I'm right You can look up a fellow member here on Home Recording by the name of fala. Just go under member list find him click on him then you can send him a Personal message. He lives in Italy and seems to be of great knowledge with recording.

thank u very much for the answer :D
yes i'm from italy! i'll try to contact that user u told me about, thanks :)

so i'm guessing that i won't have to consider an usb mic right? also if it seems a lot more user-friendly to me lol what would be the difference?

:)

USB mics are just mainly for web casting. I mean you can try one but more than likely it will just be like throwing your money to the wind.

then i think i'll go with the analog way :)

the presonus box seems a nice option...since i don't have the firewire port in my pc i've to go with the usb ;)

wow now im really excited...can't wait to start with this home record adventure :D
next week there are gonna be sales at this big store in Milano, and i see they have both the akg mic and the usb interface :D
