hey all,

having being studying music/recording at uni and recently completing the build of my home studio i got in the studio a local band and have my first mix of the drums featuring "rough" guitars/bass tracks to show the drums in some sort of track mix.

for the drums i used cheap (stagg) mics, which have been complemented on their sound for such cheap mics. these went into an ad/da. the focusrite octepre LE, then into my digi 002 via adat lightpipe.

Im happy with the result myself, just wondering what you guys think, and any constructive criticism welcome

ta,
Chris.

I dunno dude, I think the bass is way too quiet and the snare is to the left quite a ways. If that's stylistic and intentional, good stuff. Very clean. I like.

Oh, also...What's your home studio like? Those are some excellent results there in terms of clarity. I know the equipment (I'm gonna look into those Stagg mics) ie the Octopre and the A/D helped, but your room has to be pretty nice.

hey,

Cheers for your comments, and the bass is deffinatley not final, i have just been mixing the drums and the bass/guitar are rough tracks anyway so that probably explains the quiteness/lack of mixing on their part lol...

I shall be posting full pics soon of the construction of my home studio from the ground up, but the room itself is pretty dead, and when recording the drums i hung some thick curtains behind the drummer and in front of the kit and used close micing techniques, with low overheads which i tend to prefer as its kinda my sound... (what can i say i just like it)... heres some pics of the drums setup from that session if they work...

I'm digging the sound on my regular speakers. Gotta listen to it on my studio monitors and really enjoy it. Can you post kit specs? Also, your html tags for pictures aren't working.

I cant actually remember the drummers set up in detail, But i think i remember that the Kit was a Yamaha Recording Custom... and i cant get the links working correctly but if you copy an dpaste them into your browser they should work fine :) ill await ti hear what u think once listened to on your monitors

Are they anymore opinions on this track?

greatly appreciated? cheers
