hello i have 1 create cabinet at 4 ohms and my behringer cabinet is at 16 ohms mono now should i have both at same ohms for beter sound?

My create is mono cabinet and behringer can be mono or stero if im running 2 cabinets that will act as stero so i dont need to use the stero on behringer right?

also if they do need to be the same ohms were can i get info on wiring?

my power amp says 4 ohms min its a mos valve mv962 what is the best ohms for heavy metal?

If the amp is 4 ohms minimum, you can't add a cabinet to the Crate. It is already at 4 ohms, if you add anything to it the impeadance will drop and the amp will smoke.
There might be a way to wire the crate for 16 ohms, but you would need to know the impeadance of the speakers inside.

huh i cant run 2 half stacks?
i have been for 1 year now both of these cabinets
my power amp has 4 outputs for speaker cabinets and says 4 ohms min
so should i rewire create for 16 ohms or just leave it and run one 16 ohms and one 4 ohms i want best sound out of my rig!!!!

how many speakers are in the 4 ohm cab?

if one speaker... then nothing can be done

if two speakers... then each are 8 ohms. you can rewire the cab to 16 ohms

if four speakers... then the speakers are probably 4 ohms. you can rewire the cab to 16 ohms

you may have run the head at less than 4 ohms for some time, but this strains your head... is not optimum... and depending on how long and hard you drive it... your head may be on borrowed time.

without knowing more, optimum is runing both cabinets at the same load (8 or 16 ohms), and setting the head for half each cabinets load. so, if each cab is 16 ohms, then when running both cabs, set the head for 8 ohms.

What is your amp? Are you sure that the cabinet isn't a CRATE?

sorry i know i dint give enough info ok here is my setup

1- 4/12 create at 4 ohms
1- 4/12 behringer 16ohms mono ..... 8 ohms stero
1 mosvalve power amp (tube works mv 962)
1 digitech 2101 preamp

now how should i have this setup all i know is that on the back of power amp (mos valve) says 4 ohm min now i have create cabinet opened up behringer is hard to get into so i can rewire create if needed so i can run same ohms!!

help me out here please!!!!

are the speakers in the create (what's a create cab?) 4 ohms. if so, to get 16 ohms wire all of them in series. this will give you 16 ohms. you may notice a drop in volume from this cab, but the load the amp sees will be matched. now you have two cabinets at 16 ohms. when both cabinets are used, switch the head to 8 ohms. maybe this head automatically matches loads down to 4 ohms.

Each speaker is 4 ohms wired in series for a total 16 ohms

Tip(Jack) ---> [+ Speaker -] ---> [+ Speaker -] ---> [+ Speaker -] ---> [+ Speaker -] ---> Sleeve (Jack)

yea i dont know how too switch my pre amp or power amp ohms i was just wondering if its alot beter to have cabinets at same ohms together sound wise

If you are running in stereo (one cab hooked to the left channel, one cab hooked to the right channel) you don't have to have the cabs matching. It would be 4 ohms minimum per channel. Are you sure it's not a Crate cabinet?

If you're worried about losing volume, couldn't you just bring the Behringer to 4? Though I'm not sure what the ohmage is on the individual speakers in those cabs...

If he is running both cabs on the same channel, having two 4 ohm cabs would bring the impedance down to 2 ohms. That would be bad news.
