16 channel USB ?

I read a few posts here as stating USB = 2 channels, that's it.

Then, how the heck does TASCAM have a 16 channel USB ? US-1641

That is because the Tascam uses USB 2.0 and Most Cheap USB audio interfaces use USB 1.1 which is why the can only record 2 Tracks at once.....

Firewire is still the way to go as it has a Much faster Sustained data rate cuz usb 2.0 says it is 480mbs but that is only the Burst Rate it"s sustained data rate is much lower were Firewire can transfter at 400mbs all day long without a Hitch.....

while i agree that FW is prefered... i was wondering about this new one myself... ihave the fw1884 controller and this might be a good way to add some convertors cheap...
