16 track console

Alright, thanks for the help so far! And I really don't have a preference as far as price. Just throw out your suggestions of any price!
Good question. I'm an OLD school analog guy, but I have to admit the transition to digital is interesting and complex at the same time.Endless possibilities that are easily undone. For a really good true inline analog console ( new ) where all input tracks are assignable to any track on your recorder it's simply a matter of pushing a button on your console. Sytek makes a 16 channel version for around 16,000 dollars. Bad news , but if you got bucks ,well worth it.
I currently use a Presonus 1642. Almost analog ,but, this is a digital console.Around current prices , around 2300 dollars ( maybe less) and it is Good.

The reason I asked for a price guide was that without a price guide I could recommend a SSL, Neve, or a Behringer. If you want something that sounds nice and price is about mid range, have a look at TOFT gear.

There is also plenty of old Tascam consoles of various models, I have a M3700 (since new), you will pick up a 32 channel fairly cheap, or if you want a smaller physical size try a M2524 (which I also own). Old Soundcraft and Allen & heath sound good.

It's hard to give recommendations without a price guide? Remember to get a studio console as live consoles wont fit the studio requirements.

Alan.

A +1 on the Toft stuff...it's new, and has respectable EQs...all connections are 1/4" TRS or TS so you can get buy without a patchbay...it's what I'll buy if the lottery gods ever "sorta smile" on me (if it's HUGE smiles baby it's Duality)...
