10,000 Dollars For Gear What Do I Get?

Ask yourself one question: Do you really need $10k to build a studio if you think you are not gonna make money in the future? I mean i heard lots of people with $2k studios producing pretty hi quality stuff. it's not how much cash you spend, it's how you spend it.

Yep I'm cutting down on the computer specs, and am going to invest in preamp's compressors etc. After I get my computer built I will come back to different forums with specific questions. This whole 10k deal was just helping me brainstorm to get focus and I appreciate the info. I'm going to take it slow and learn how to use a few basic programs then dive into Sonar 5, and Vegas. Here is a few tracks I made previous on the Pentium 2 at this.

The vocals drums and all instruments are done in the room that I am going to be flipping around with the new gear. I think 2 of the songs are joke songs with video clip sounds and me and this kid rapping. The other 2 are kind of folk/hip hop with a casio keyboard. Thats the room sound I got going, actually works on drums and acoustic guitar in the right cases, but rather muddy on the bass responce I think.

Actually I am definately going to cut back on things and take each piece of gear slow. In the end it will probably add up, but it wont be just blowing the whole thing all at once. The reason I was focusing on PC specs is because I will probably spend a lot more time tweaking small pieces of recorded sound than recording full bands, or drum and bass together etc.
