1 ply or 2 ply Drumheads?

Which do you prefer on your toms and why? Don't forget to vote.

It really depends on the type of music, the drum set, live vs. recording and a few other variables.

That being said, as a general rule I prefer 2 ply and if I need to cover several different styles I would use 2 ply.

I use pinstripes all the way around the kit (From the Kicks to the snare.)

I've just used them for so long, that it's something I'm used to. I would like to try Ambassadors some time, but then I think about any possible ringing that I don't have to deal with now.
I don't use any muffling on the heads at all, and in the Kicks I just use one Evans "EQGate" pillow per kick, with nothibng touching the resonant head.

Using the sizes that I use, I'm prtetty much stuck with Remo....most companies don't make a 28" and a 20" Floor tom head in the same type, and I simply like having the same style of head.

I use coated Ambassadors on toms. (1 ply) I love them, and they carry no overtones. Tim, what would you get? Clear? Because it's probably the clears that have the overtones. I love coated amb. And will use them till I quit drumming, or die. Most likely die. :) HA.

I have always used 2-ply heads because of the sound Evans Hydraulic Blue Batter tom heads w/hydraulic blacks for resonance heads kicks Evans Mesh screen front and Aquarian Full Force II Batter head w/impact patch......snare Aquarian Hi-energy batter and an Evans 500gauge snare side head awsome sounding powerful drums this is what I have on my kit now and it sounds killer when recorded

2 ply - Remo Emperors simply because I like the deeper, rounder tone they exhibit. Durability is a plus as well.
