02R with MTC, Midi or SMPTE

Hi everybody,

Firstly some details about my setup:
PowerMac G3 Yosemite running with Logic Audio 4.6.1
MOTU Micro Express
Yamaha 02R

I receveied my 02R one week ago and I'd like to know what is the difference between connecting it via MTC, Midi In or SMPTE to synchronize it with Logic.

Basically, I assume that you are going to record to the computer, then run the tracks back out into the O2R for mixing correct?

If so, you would need Mide Time Code (MTC) so that the O2R knows where all the many automation features need to do their thing while mixing. You would send a MTC signal to the O2R via your soundcard.

Why would you buy all that expensive stuff and not have a clue how to hook it up? Just asking.
