Hi. Been umming and arring about getting a mixer/controller for at least a couple of years now, and I'm currently looking at maybe getting the 01X.

If any 01X-perts can answer these I'd be grateful...:

1. Are the 2 mic pres on the 01X as clean as the pres on the latest generation of Yamaha consoles? (02R96, DM1000 etc.)

2. My ancient PC is PIII 550mHz, Win98SE, running a Yamaha SW1000XG card. I do not have Firewire. How well will the 01X integrate with Cubase VST/32 (NOT SX) via MIDI? Will it happily wiggle Cubase's faders up and down, or does it need firewire?

3. Are the faders motorised?

4. I want to route a mic and my Roland module into my Yamaha sound card, along with eventually an extra module. How well does the 01X work as a line mixer - bearing in mind I'll be using just the analog side of it to go into my sound card?

5. Say I want to use the onboard compression/EQ while recording a mic. How do I see the settings - on the 01X's tiny screen or on the PC via mLan? Are there ways of using this unit's functions like compression, MIDI mixing etc. without going via mLan?

6. Should I just concentrate on getting a new PC?...

So many questions...

I have an 01x.

1- Yes
2- You need firewire, that's how it connects to the PC, and you need SX.
3- Yes
4- I don't know, i've never tried it.
5- Yes, it's a stand alone digital mixer as well.
6- Buy a new PC then buy the 01x. The 01x won't work well on a low end PC.
