New song from a newbie. Please lend me your ears!

I think the guitar sounds a tad on the "tin side" (Are you using a stratocaster by chance?) I think a little more middle and slightly less trebble would help the lead tone, I'd encourage you to play around with it. I really like the melody of the song, and the mix is good overall! I agree with...

All Fall Down - First mix from DeepEnd

Hey there, The track actually is pretty good, your mixing sounds decent, the singer needs vocal lessons badly though! He’s got potential to have a pretty good voice. Depending on your pitch correction capabilities, I would go through and individually fix the foul notes, if of course they are...

    Monitor Necessity?

Thank you for the responses. I was especially laughing at the music for the dogs. The best bet would be to test and monitor the frequency range, and go from there.

    Monitor Necessity?

I probably will end up going that route. I just am not a gear collector, and don't want to buy something unless it is a necessity. Thanks!

    Monitor Necessity?

Hey, I recently set up my home recording system and have been having good luck so far. My question comes to monitors! I currently have a speaker/subwoofer set up with a frequency of 30Hz - 20kHz. Now I know monitors are supposed to have a wide frequency, and the clairity is more important...

I'm digging the WAV idea better. I like the idea of having just the raw WAV files I can mix myself. Thanks a lot guys!

Advice on mixing a song I didn't record...

Hey all! I was recently enlisted to remix my friend's CD that they recorded using Sonar 7. The problem is I use Logic! So it may be a stupid question but I've never had this situation before, and was wondering the best way of going about it? Usually I'll just use my system to record/mix. Is...

Why do you record at home?

Because I've spent about 1000 dollars total (without the computer) on my studio in the last few months and now can record and mix songs just as good at the local studios. To date with all my different bands, cds, demos, promos etc. I've spent about $4000.... and now I can record whenever I want.

    Recording a Fender Strat

Hey All! I have a question on recording my 50th Anniversary American Made Fender Stratocaster. I’ve recorded in low end studios to high and studios and very rarely have gotten a tone that I dig from my strat. I’ve recently started working in my own home studio with a modest set up, and need help...

    Best mic for...

Sorry about the delayed response I had a busy work week. Anyway I'm looking at a budget of around 200-400 (The high end depends on if my singer goes in on it with me). Doing more research and talking it out it seems a better investment would be a decent pre amp as apposed to dropping money on...

Issue Using my Casio CTK 810 as a midi...

Hello all, I recently got string studio vs-1, and have been attempting to use my casio ctk-810 as a midi key. The only problem is the casio is sending IT'S cheap presets to my computer, and VS-1 is then using the mod over that... Do I have to break down and get an actual midi controller, or am I...

    Best mic for...

Hello all, I'm currently looking to purchase a good vocal condenser to record my current singer. I’ve been getting mixed reviews/advice from my friends who own/work at recording studios and wonder what you though. I feel his voice is in a similar range to that Bruce Springsteen treble end of the...
