    Sonar3 Slow down

OK, this has something to do with the system playing a sound when a menu opens. I went into control-panel, sounds and disabled the sound events for menus and that fixed the problem... Maybe a conflict between drivers. I'll post more when I figure it out. Cheers Kevin.

    Sonar3 Slow down

I am feeling kinda stupid at the moment and I'm hoping I have set some config bit the wrong way and someone here can help - I am running Sonar3 on an XP system and while the audio is running, if I open any pulldown menu; right click on audio or effects bin or menus, the audio output slows to...

    Looking for missing plug-ins

Hello - Couple of things: I am running Sonar 3.11 which I had upgraded from Sonar 2.x. I just got a new PC (running XP). I wanted to keep using the Timeworks plugins that came with Sonar 2 and I know that all of the patches are dependent on the previous version being installed. I figured I would...

    in the spirit of DIY.......

Frederic says: I have to appologize... I have not been keeping up to date on this stuff at all! If anyone has pictures they want included in the home made gallery - let me know (include threads if possible). Otherwise, I'll go through and see what I can find. I have not checked in to this...

    All effects off?

In Sonar (3.x) is there a simple way to disable all effects at once? I mean the equivalent of going through each track and unselecting each effect not deleting them. Thanks Kevin.

    do i need rackrail

Go with the wood. I used metal rails on the first one I built and have found wood to be easier, cheaper and better overall. I don't move equipment all that much so it is a no brainer for me. cheers Kevin.

    Helmholtz photos

Hey folks. I took a couple hours this week and added a helmholtz trap in the corner of one of my rooms. I took some pictures along the way and put them up here: http://www.longsoughtfor.org/postn/html/modules.php?set_albumName=album35&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php...

    Putty Pads

Interesting Michael... I really like how far the front of the box is from the stud :) ... thick walls. Do you cut the wallboard the size of the box and push the putty back with it to seal it from the back? Kevin.

    My Soundproofing Plan

Vegas - I'd suggest you try this question on the "Studio Building and Display" group... you will get some great help. The biggest thing to realize though is the difference between soundproofing and sound controlling. Proper soundproofing requires mass and isolation for example; building a room...

    Telephone Voice Sound

Telephone is usually heavily compressed and is really just midrange bandpass filtered i.e. no highs and no lows. Cheers Kevin.

    Pico's studio

What is the point of the hallway picture anyway? It doesn't show anything usefull or appealing to the recording process. It only shows some cables in a hallway... big deal. Your web site should try and show how you differentiate yourself from other studios. Choose your pictures carefully...

    Figure of Eight Question

Thanks guys - just what I was looking for. An AKG 414 is on "the list" but for now I'll try Bob's suggestion of keeping them in the same vertical plane. I read an interview with Geoff Emerick where he said they used to use a Fig 8 mic about 6 feet in front of a bass cabinet. Thought I'd give...

    Leaving tape on the machine

reel buzzer - SoMm is right on all counts. The biggest danger to leaving tape on the machine is that when you power the machine on, the in rush current through the heads can induce a magnetic field and erase portions of your tape... I often leave tape on the machine overnight but I do take care...
